Magic the Gathering : The Naya Shard
The Naya shard, the world where creatures work hand in hand for a goal everyone share? Maybe not…..
This might be quite a late update on the planes of Alara, but for the sake of a complete review, there will still be the Jund and the Grixis Shard update followed by the Conflux events and the Alara reborn end.

Lets take a look at the Shard’s environment
NAYA : the Primal world
Naya’s bounty spills over upon itself. Each leaf and flower struggles against the next with thrashing thorns, acidic pollen, and strangling roots.
Flavor Text of card ‘Lush Growth’
Naya is a shard surrounded by mountains, plains and mainly forest. Littered around the shard are relics of forgotten past, which lies dormant and still until time to come where its power would be unleashed.
A simple combination of the lands in Naya, although as what you might read from the flavor text above, Naya is a land where resources seems to be at abundance as what is written on the card “Mosstodon”

In the abundance world of Naya, everyone enjoys the rich and plentiful amount of mana which can be found everywhere, be it from the land itself or the creatures. Examples such as the following cards:
Sunseed Nurturer
Exruberant Firestoker

Drumhunter
Durid of the Anima
Keeper of Progentius

While we have several special creatures which runs along with the kind of lands around:
Wild Nacatl

Qasali Ambusher

In Naya, there seems to be a religion in the society of the elves, where they have a higher up durid holding the highest powers when it comes to leadership. She is the Anima>

The Anima, one who holds the power to sense the powers of the Hydra God, Progenitus. What is Progenitus? It remains as a big mystery to most but just the circle of elves whom holds the authority. They are the ones who detect, sense and informs the Anima if any changes or any strange occurance were to happen.
But what about the other creatures which also co – exist on the plane as well? They are the Gargantuans.
What can be considered to be a Gargantuan?
- It has a power of 5 or greater
- It is usually big and fierce
- It is worshiped by the elves
- It may or may not assist other Gargantuans
So what are the gargantuans which appeared in this world as of this set, lets take a look :

All of these gargantuans are still considered small fry when we compare it to the biggest one in this set, Godsire.

and its offspring

But who is Progenitus? We do not know for sure but its mention in this card sure make it seems like a super powerful creature.

Now lets come to the planeswalker of this shard, appreantly this is also the hometown of the cat planeswalker, Ajani.

Ajani is named Ajani Vengeant in this set, appreantly this is his younger self, a more hot blooded planeswalker whose on the tracks to find the murderer of his brother. While the first ability is of a normal white control power to tap a permanent instead of creatures, with the infusion of red, Ajani gains additional powers which makes him “Boroish”, like his 2nd ability is much like a ‘Lightling Helix‘ . Its ultimate feels like a total land destruction purpose, where it totally cripples its enemies land. Imagine the face on the enemy when you unlease this power on his lands.
So what does Ajani do in this shard? Lets take a look :

And of course, what about his own big ba-da boom spell, the ultimatum?

and the enlarged version

This shard contains multiple bombs and multiple boosting methods for creatures. While this shard itself is full of creatures, how about its synergy with other sets?
My first idea is the Mosswort bridge. As only 2 gargantuans could rake up that amount of power you require or with the use of other power pumping spell such as Resounding Roar or Titanic Ultimatum itself. Or the use of Mossbridge Troll, where you can pump it high enough to throw a big bomb on your enemy, or just use soul’s fire to burn off the enemy.
What about the some other cards which could use to work as removals? There are alot of removals which can easily remove a power 5 creauture out easily, how can we protect the creature from harm? The easiest is the use of “Godtoucher”, where you can simply prevent ALL damage done to a gargantuans of your choice, and the best yet? It can be used on any creature with power 5, meaning if you were to power up a creature to 5 and is being under a spell or damage which could finish it off, it can be protected by the Godtoucher!
Another card combo is with the famous “Elvish Piper“, where you can just simply throw it into play by simply tapping it with a green mana! While this few are one of the combos with the big creature, there is another combo which is crazy enough to get an infinitly big creature.
By using Cloudstone Curio,2 Quasil Ambusher and Forgotten Ancient, we can go a big creature boost, by first playing Cloudstone Curio and Forgotten Ancient, during a combat phase where an enemy declares an attack, play 2 Quasil Ambusher, and with the effect of Cloudstone Curio, return 1 back to your hand and then play it again, looping it till you want to stop. This seems like nothing but the Forgotten Ancient will get pretty beefed up by that process! Or play Soul Warden to get a large health boost!
This is Somatic signing out for now as duty calls. But be sure that the other 2 shard will be covered soon next week. Last but not lease the disclaimers.
