David Wang “planetbeing” make news weeks ago when he showed off a 2G iPhone modified to run on Android OS.  A key contributors to the iPhone 3GS jailbreak, This week he showed off Android running on the iPhone 3G. Almost everything Wi-Fi, internet, SMS, and MMS included, is working in the iPhone Android.  The only issue now is sound, which also means you can’t make or receive phone calls. He promise that support for sound will come soon, and it won’t take long to replicate the success on 3Gs and the upcoming 4G.

Running on Snapdragon processor of speed up to 1GHz, Nexus one is one of the fastest smartphone in the market in terms of clock speed. Even so, Android hackers managed to push the limit further a couple of weeks ago, overclocking Nexus One to 1.113GHz, which is 10% faster than the original clock speed .

Days after the new clock speed is set, it appears that someone push the limit to unimaginably heights:

Yes you have it. 5.03GHz Nexus One; overclocked to 5 times the original clock speed. It is a clock speed that will make Nexus One the fastest smartphone on the planet. It is a clock speed that allows a smartphone to have processing power comparable with notebooks computers. It is a clock speed way beyond everyone’s imagination.

The modded kernel has yet to be release, and there is no news on stability issues. No one know how long the phone can last at 5GHz. No one needs to know, as the record clock speed has been broken yet an hour later:

Latest image leak of "Nexus One"

News regarding Google Android has been coming to us fast and furious for the past week. PZ Portal has round up all the information that has been distributed all over the net for the past few days. This article aims to give everyone a clear idea on what to expect for the new Google Phone by answering the following questions:

1. When did the news first appeared in public?
2. What are the possible phone technical specifications?
3. Any release information, or is it only for Google employees?

1) When did the news first appeared in public?

• - It appears that the first official hints were dropped from the Official Google Mobile Blog on 12 December. It attracted lots of speculations, especially from this extract:

We recently came up with the concept of a mobile lab, which is a device that combines innovative hardware from a partner with software that runs on Android to experiment with new mobile features and capabilities, and we shared this device with Google employees across the globe.

• - On the same day, Tweets appear on Twitter from Google employees who had some hands-on on the actual phone itself. Various websites have been doing reports on the new Google phone, which is believed to be “Like an iPhone on beautifying steroids” with “new visual enhancements like animated desktop wallpaper”. • - Engadget did a search of “Nexus One” on Google’s Picasa, and found pictures taken by HTC Nexus One on 27 November. We conduct a similar search but could not find the pictures in question.

2) What are the possible phone technical specifications?

• - It runs on Android 2.1. The latest official version in the market right now is Android 2.0, found on Motorola Droid. Engadget concluded that the version of Android looks nearly identical to the one on Motorola Droid based on photos.

• - It has a 5 mega-pixel camera, if the EXIF data from the photos taken by phone is accurate.

• - It is made by HTC. Rumors has been going around hinting that HTC Passion is in fact Nexus One. It has been confirmed only recently, complete with images, that HTC Passion will be released in Europe coming April, and January in US under the name of HTC Bravo.

• - Not much specifications has been leaked at this point of time. Engadget predicted that it have at least the specs of HTC Bravo.

3) Any release information, or is the phone only for Google employees?

• - Right now it is only available to Google employees, although rumors say that it will be released next January. Do note that HTC Bravo will also be on the market from January onwards.

• - It is believed that Google plans to market the phone directly with end users over the Internet. Unlike Apple’s iPhone, there will be no mobile carrier restrictions for Google’s upcoming phone. End users may even buy the phone from Best Buy.

• - There is a number of names for Google’s new phone. 2-months old photographs, similar to those that are leaked recently, called it HTC Passion (although it’s been rebutted). It also have the codename of Phone88, before the most recent codename Nexus One.

With lots of unconfirmed sources floating around, it will be quite some time before the truth is revealed for the new Google Phone.

Google recently rolled out the technology to search using Pictures taken. All you need to do is to take a photo (it can be a landmark, book, logo, or anything else), and let Google do the search.

Current only available on Android phones, you can download the application off Android market and use it straight away. Your version of Android would also need to be at least 1.6, which is just being released by Singtel.
